Traffic clowns

The red light shines,
And all the vehicles come to a halt.
Some with screeching sounds,
Some with smoky clouds.
.
The knees suddenly unbent,
And the children were on their way,
Snaking through the snakes,
Selling innumerous fickle things.
.
Some held flags even when Independence Day was late to attend,
Some held flowers, to be gifted to valentines,
Some held balloons, a burst here and there got the attention more than their calls,
Varieties of merchandise, cheap yet substantial.
.
The pissed of people from work,
Mother's holding screeching babies in lap,
Student thinking about their own fears,
Common people strewn on that jam packed road,
Tried their best to ignore their calls,
And some even took in their hands to sweep them off the loop,
.
Ignored and rebuked by them,
The shine fading as the light turned green,
They turned back towards their hovel of scorns.
.
A few successful students were able to scrounge
A few pennies by selling to some client,
Their burrow wasn't that different,
All of them sat together forming a round.
.
The rush of traffic amused their tiny minds,
The vast candour of world opened for their scrunchy eyes,
The traffic cleared, yet they didn't rest,
They sat with their knees bent,
Waiting for traffic light to turn into the glare of Satan's eyes.
