Freedom is an expensive entity

 Freedom is an expensive entity.

away from home,

when you dream of taking the next step,

that might give you a boost,

your freedom is what comes in your way.

every day after the hectic work,

after planning and conquering the well-deserved perk,

your freedom is what comes

in the form of a grumbling stomach.

every time when you have a goal to conquer,

after devising all the plans and bringing out your tools,

your freedom comes in the form of absurd obstacles,

acting like shackles attached to your ankles.

whenever a new opportunity arrives,

opening up the doors of life,

freedom comes in the form of locked chains of safety,

holding you back from grabbing that rein

and run free.

every month as we all prepare and plan,

thinking ahead of the dates and cramps,

avoiding, replanning and prioritizing,

freedom comes in the form of menstruating blood,

staining the whites and colourfuls alike in red flood.

but again, not all have the strength

to step down the pedestal of comfort,

and grab the hands of Freedom

who waits right off your pedestal

with a smile on that handsome face,

tempting, hands raised, for you

but once you grab that hand,

this freedom in itself is the freaking strength.

it will help you survive the hunger pangs,

even when their echoes can be heard

to your family far away,

it won't let your determination sway;

it will turn into the saw to cutaway

from the shackles at your ankles

while focussing on the goals as well;

it will teach you patience to find the right key

to open the lock and grab the opportunity and form your own story;

and when you are ready,

it will turn into the courage and strength and means

which will help you to

walk down the ramp even with stained jeans.

yet not all can afford it

cause, freedom is an expensive entity.
